Corporation Support Brings Tony and Grammy Winner and Hamilton Star, Leslie Odom, Jr. to “A Night of Promise,” A Gala to Support The Pittsburgh Promise FNB’s First Gift to The Promise is an Investment in the Region’s Students and Workforce PITTSBURGH, March 11, 2019 – Best known for his role in the Broadway musical, Hamilton, Leslie Odom, Jr. will headline the exclusive gala on November 2, 2019, to celebrate the success of The Pittsburgh Promise and the first decade of students funded by the scholarship program. Presented by F.N.B. Corporation (FNB), parent company of First National Bank, A Night of Promise is expected to raise a minimum of $1 million. FNB’s sponsorship of the gala is the first gift from the company to The Pittsburgh Promise. “FNB is very pleased to join forces with The Pittsburgh Promise to provide aspirational education opportunities for our hometown’s urban youth,” said Vincent J. Delie, Jr., Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of F.N.B. Corporation and First National Bank. “Our participation in efforts to bring the entire communities’ resources together to create educational and workplace opportunities will result in a strong and diverse pool of bright and talented young professionals whose career ambitions will drive our regions success for generations.” The Pittsburgh Promise has raised nearly $205 million of its $265 million fundraising goal and has invested more than $130 million in post-secondary scholarships for 8,804 urban youth. In its first decade, The Promise has been successful in motivating Pittsburgh youth to pursue higher education. High school graduation rates and college-going rates for Promise-eligible students have increased 12% since the inception of the program. Nearly 3,000 Promise scholarship recipients have graduated with a post-secondary degree; many are now employees of over 200 regional companies. Commenting on FNB’s support for the gala, Pittsburgh Promise Executive Director Saleem Ghubril said, “We are so thankful for all that FNB does to improve the quality of life and opportunity in our region. With their support, The Pittsburgh Promise will continue to open the doors of opportunity to urban youth so that they too can participate in Pittsburgh’s prosperity, and add preparedness and diversity to its workforce. A Night of Promise will be a celebration of our kids and their accomplishments, as well as a call to action to make sure that tens of thousands more can grow into the fullness of their promise.” A Night of Promise will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2, beginning at 6 p.m. at downtown Pittsburgh’s Wyndham Grand Hotel.
