Pittsburgh Promise Board of Directors Names BNY Mellon Chairman and Covestro Executive as New Board Members

PITTSBURGH, August 1, 2019 – The Pittsburgh Promise Board of Directors has approved the appointments of two new members who will begin to serve three-year terms effective at their first board meeting on September 11, 2019. New members of The Pittsburgh Promise Board are: Eric Boughner, Chairman of BNY Mellon Pennsylvania and Aleta Richards, Senior VP of Sales and Market Development at Covestro.

Mr. Boughner is a graduate of Penn State University with an MBA from Carnegie Mellon Tepper School of Business. He is an accomplished executive with experience in leading business development. Prior to his time with BNY Mellon, Mr. Boughner co-founded a startup spun out of Carnegie Mellon. He serves on the boards of The Allegheny Conference for Community Development and The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh and Lemieux Family Center, in addition to The Pittsburgh Promise board.

Ms. Richards received both a bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. She is also a proud Pittsburgh Public Schools graduate of Allderdice high school and recently earned a doctorate degree of Business Administration from Georgia State University. Ms. Richards started her career at Covestro (then part of Bayer) and has held various leadership positions in marketing, sales, human resources and management. She serves as a sponsor for an internal network of African American employees and is the co-sponsor of an employee resource group for veteran employees. She is also a Board Member of PBAN which works to ensure diversity within the Katz Business School MBA program.

The Pittsburgh Promise has served nearly 9,000 students to date and works to fund scholarships for post-secondary access and fuels a prepared and diverse regional workforce. Joining board members will provide valuable perspective on The Promise, its impact, and continued and growing importance to regional employers.
