PITTSBURGH, PA – May 17, 2023 – The Pittsburgh Promise has received a $10,000 grant from Macy’s, and as part of that award, Pittsburgh Promise scholarship recipients were welcomed to Macy’s Ross Park on Wednesday, May 17, for a Dress to Impress event to provide them with professional wardrobes for interviews, internships, and first jobs.

During the event Macy’s personal stylists, Kiya Tomlin, Fashion Designer and Founder of Kiya Tomlin Designs, and Bill Generett, Senior Vice President for Civic Engagement and External Relations at Duquesne University, helped scholarship recipients select and put together professional looks to feel confident as they move forward into their careers.

“Through our social purpose platform, Mission Every One, Macy’s is committed to empowering youth and the leaders of tomorrow, especially when it comes to owning your style,” said Sam Di Scipio, Macy’s, Inc. senior director, social impact. “We are thrilled to provide these deserving students with the outfits and confidence to succeed and help realize their full potential.”

“Alumni of The Pittsburgh Promise are well-prepared, diverse, and ready to enhance our region’s workforce,” said Saleem Ghubril, Executive Director of Pittsburgh Promise. “We are so grateful to Macy’s for this generous investment in our students which will make them even more prepared to share their talents and flourish in their careers.”
